A finding chart for TX Col

SkyView image of TX Col (see important notes).

Position:
  • Equatorial: 05h43m20.12s, -41d01m54.3s (Gaia)
  • Galactic: l=246.77, b=-29.73
Finding Chart:
Tuohy et al (1986)
Brightness:
Optical: G=15.6 (Gaia); X-rays: 1.2x10-11 ergs cm-2s-1 (BAT 157m; 14-195 keV), 1.8x10-11 ergs cm-2s-1 (2SXPS)
IP Credential:
***** (Ironclad) Multiple independent measurements exist for the orbital, the spin, and the beat periods, including TESS photometry.
Periods:
  • Orbital: 0.2371 d = 5.691+/-0.006 hr = 20490 s, seen in X-rays and in optical spectroscopy and photometry (period from TESS photometry)
  • Spin: 0.022101 d = 31.825 min = 1909.5+/-0.2 s from TESS photometry, also seen in X-rays.
  • Others: Sideband(s) seen in optical photometry and in X-rays. TESS photometry: 0.0243722 d = 35.096 min = 2105.76+/-0.25 s
Inclination:
< 25 deg? (low radial velocity amplitude)
Distance:
909.3 (887.8-927.1) pc (Gaia EDR3; parallax: 1.065+/-0.026 mas)
