A finding chart for V3037 Oph

SkyView image of V3037 Ophiuchi (see important notes).

  • Equatorial: 17h40m16.10s, -29d03m38.0s (Gaia)
  • Galactic: l=359.28, b=+0.93
Finding Chart:
Thorstensen & Halpern (2013)
Optical: G=18.4 (Gaia); X-rays: 5.1x10-12 ergs cm-2s-1 (4XMM-DR11)
IP Credential:
**** (Confirmed): The detection of a short orbital period (5.7 hr, or possibly 7.52 hr), combined with the 623 s spin period, confirms the IP nature of this object, even though the X-ray spectrum is unusual for an IP.
  • Orbital: 0.2384 d = 5.722 h = 20600 s (its one day alias, 0.314 days =7.52 hr, is unlikely but cannot be completely ruled out)
  • Spin: 0.00721 d = 10.4 min = 623+/-2 s, seen in X-rays and in the optical.
  • Others:
1710 (1290-2120) pc (Gaia EDR3; parallax: 0.769+/-0.162 mas)
