A finding chart for PQ Gem

SkyView image of PQ Gem (see important notes).

Position
  • Equatorial: 07h51m17.32s, +14d44m24.0s (Gaia)
  • Galactic: l=206.06, b=+19.77
Finding Chart:
Mason et al. (1992)
Brigntness:
Optical G=14.1 (Gaia); X-rays: 3.2x10-11 ergs cm-2s-1 (BAT 157m; 14-195 keV), 2.8x10-11 ergs cm-2s-1 (4XMM-DR11)
IP Credential:
***** (Ironclad) The spin period is confirmed many times over, and the orbital period is determined using optical spectroscopy.
Periods:
  • Orbital: 0.216359 d = 5.1926 hr= 18693.4 s
    HJD=2449333.984(4)+0.216359(3)E
    (Hellier (1997a)) for red-to-blue crossing of the emission lines, though there is some uncertainty over the cycle count.
  • Spin: 0.0096460639 d = 13.890332 min = 833.41992 s, seen in X-rays and optical.
    TDBdip = 2450103.152344(53) + 0.0096460639(4)E + 4.379(26)x10-13E2
    (Evans, Hellier & Ramsay (2006); Note that there is a typographical error in this ephemeris as published in MNRAS. The extraneous "4" after "(26)" should be ignored: Evans 2008, private communication.)
    See the complex X-ray spin pulse shapes.
  • Others: 14.5 min sideband period.
Inclination:
Low? (little orbital modulation)
Distance:
733.6 (719.4-749.7) pc (Gaia EDR3; parallax: 1.325+/-0.023 mas)
