Here at Goddard, we just got our first snow of the year – just a dusting, but it’s definitely beginning to look and feel like winter!  We’ve been excited to see what people have been coming up with for our space-themed snowflake and garland contest – and inspired enough to make our own! Sara snipped out the Space Shuttle garland at the beginning of this entry, and we’re eyeing some snowflake designs with cosmic shapes (shh, can’t give away all of our secrets!).

We’re having lots of wintry fun, so in the holiday spirit, we’re extending the deadline for our contest.  We’d originally planned to close the contest today, but we’re going to extend it for a week and let you submit your entries through December 22, 2010 at 11:59PM EST.  See the original contest post for how to enter and all of the obligatory rules.

Don’t be intimidated by the awesome snowflake in the original post – it was a custom papercutting created for us by Jenny Lee Fowler. You won’t be competing with pros – entries are coming from all sorts of folks with a variety of crafty skills. We’re looking for creativity, originality, and spacey-ness. That last one is a word, right? So take a few minutes to snip out a snowflake or a garland, and enter!  The prizes are a variety of crafty NASA items, plus some as-seen-on-TV items that we know you’d love to have.
