We just passed the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer’s 20th birthday last month – a little tricky since the satellite is no longer in service. But why not take a quick look back and its awesome history, which we did in this blog on its 15th anniversary.
In the grand (and current tradition) of our posting lots of satellite cakes, I was able to find this pictures of RXTE’s 10th anniversary cake, made by Gail Rohrbach.
We also have a couple of things you can try at home – this activity about images, light curves, and spectra, plus you can build your own paper RXTE model!
Please also visit the RXTE Learning Center for more activities, lesson plans, and information about the mission.
