SDO is GO!

February always seems to be a busy month – it’s a few days shorter than the rest and jam-packed with things to do.  This one is no exception.  NASA Goddard got blanketed with quite a few feet of snow in a series of storms, making the roads impassible for a week.  And NASA had two major launches down at Kennedy Space Center within a single week – STS-130 and the Solar Dynamics Observatory!

So we’re running a few days late on our upcoming episode about NASA and social media.  We interviewed lots of interesting folks at the #SDOisGO tweet-up down in Florida, and got some sound bites from our Twitter followers.  Now we’re knitting it all together to share with you next week.

In the meantime, here’s some exclusive Blueshift footage from the night launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour.  Seeing the false dawn created during liftoff was amazing.

The SDO rocket launch was also impressive. Want to see the coolest part? The rocket’s shockwave blew away a lovely rainbow sundog!
