Round 3 - Data Sets
Round 3 is a year-long challenge building on Round 2 with improved
source models and some new sources. This round concluded April 30,2008.
The solutions and entries are available
here.
A document which fully specifies the waveform models and other details of
Round 3 is in preparation.
Note: The official challenge data sets
were generated on 3-4 April 2008 (training data on Apr 1)
and linked here on April 4.
Please discard any older
versions.
Challenge 3.1 - Galaxy with chirping binaries
A two-year dataset (2^22 samples with 15 s sampling) with signals from 6e7 galactic binaries. Orbital frequency may be linearly increasing or decreasing. The set also includes 20 "verification binaries" with some information
(here)
about the systems considered known.

Challenge 3.2 - MBH binary over galactic confusion
A two-year (2^22 samples with 15s sampling) with signals from U[4,6] spinning MBH binary inspirals.

Challenge 3.3 - EMRIs
A two year dataset (2^22 samples at 15 s cadence) containing signals from 5 "MLDC EMRIs" with parameters drawn as in Challenge 1B.

Challenge 3.4 - Bursts A month-long dataset (2^21
samples with 1 s sampling) with Poisson-distributed
cosmic-string-cusp bursts. The Possion event rate is 5 events
per month. SNRs are uniformly distributed between 10 and
100. The logarithm of the maximum frequency will be uniformly
distributed in [-3,1.0]. For this challenge, the noise is
non-symmetric with secondary noises randomized independenly at
each optical bench within a range +/-20% of the nominal value;
laser noise is also included (independently randomised across
the constellation) with a level 10 times the (nominal)
amplitude of the secondary noises at 1 mHz. We also provide
the X,Y,Z TDI channels and the 12
inter/intra-spacecraft raw phase measurements are provided.

Challenge 3.5 - Stochastic Backgrounds A month-long
dataset (2^21 samples with 1 s sampling) with an isotropic
stochastic background with S_h proportional to f^-3. The
signal is realized by placing 192 pseudo-random sources at
Healpix-distributed points across the sky. As in Challenge
3.4, the noise is non-symmetric with secondary noises
randomized independenly at each optical bench within a range
+/-20% of the nominal value; laser noise is also included
(independently randomised across the constellation) with a
level 10 times the (nominal) amplitude of the secondary noises
at 1 mHz. We also provide the X,Y,Z TDI channels and the
12 inter/intra-spacecraft raw phase measurements are provided.
Challenge 3.5
For this case, unlike the other challenges, the LISA
spacecraft trajectories are simplified (rigid circular rotation).
The LISACode data were updated on March 26,2009,
with datasets dated Feb 21-22, 2009.

Challenge 3.5e
These datasets are based on the standard (eccentric, inclined)
orbit model, and are expected to be more difficult to analyze.
These data were added on March 26,2009,
with datasets dated Feb 21-22, 2009.
