The Astro 2010 Decadal Review has drawn enthusiastic participation from IXO supporters. We list here the 15 white papers most directly relevant to IXO science. Note that there are many more white papers submitted on high-energy astrophysics topics related to the IXO mission. These white papers represent contributions from hundreds of scientists from the United States, Europe, and Japan.

More than 200 astronomers convened in Boston, MA on January 28—29, 2009 at the IXO Team Meeting to discuss the IXO science and technology developments. Presentations by the Science Definition Team (SDT), the Instrument Working Group (IWG), the Telescope Working Group (IWG), and the ESA, JAXA, and NASA projects are posted to the web site.

IXO Science Team Meeting January 28-29, 2009

There will be a meeting of the International X-ray Observatory (IXO) science Team January 28-29, 2009 in Cambridge, MA at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on the Charles River. Participation by all members of the IXO science team is encouraged, as well as members of the scientific community interested in IXO. Members of the previous Con-X and XEUS teams are particularly encouraged to attend. This IXO science team meeting will focus on preparing for the upcoming U.S. Decadal Survey.

IXO FST Meeting Registration Fee and Agenda

Due to a busy working schedule, we will be bringing in lunch each day of the FST meeting August 20-22. In order to cover the cost of the lunch and breaks we will be collecting an on-site registration fee of $75 for the meeting, or a per-day fee of $25.

Also, the current agenda is available for download (use link below). The agenda may still be updated, so please check the website for the latest version.

Announcing: The International X-ray Observatory (IXO)

At a bilateral ESA-NASA meeting July 15-16, 2008, David Southwood, the ESA Director for the Science and Robotic Exploration Program, and Ed Weiler, the NASA Associate Administrator of the Science Mission Directorate, endorsed a plan to establish an International X-ray Observatory (IXO) study.

The IXO study will be the input to the US decadal process and to the ESA selection for the Cosmic Vision Plan and supersedes the ongoing XEUS and Constellation-X activities.
