Network speed tests:
- Speedtest.net (Ookla) Also available as an
iOS mobile app and a macOS desktop app.The benefit of the separate apps is that your results don't get affected by the speed of your browser. All free, of course.
I use this all the time, particularly when I connect to a new network, to see what I am dealing with in terms of speed, and to see (for an iPhone) whether it would be faster to turn off Wi-Fi and just use Cellular.
(See xkcd: Wifi vs Cellular and ExplainXKCD for full details.)
