Waveform Catalog

Want to see gravitational waves? Here we collect the calculations of theorists around the world determining the waveforms of gravitational radiation expected from various astrophysical sources. Our goal is to facillitate interaction among source modelers, data analysts, and gravitational wave experimentalists. These waveforms can be used for data analysis, experimental simulation and design tasks, and source identification and interpretation.

So far, three anticipated sources of gravitational wave bursts are included below:

  1. Extreme Mass Ratio Binary (Capture)
  2. Binary Black Hole Mergers
  3. Black Hole - Neutron Star Mergers
  4. Binary Neutron Star Mergers
Data files containing the waveforms are in a simple, 3-column ascii format (time[sec], rh+[cm], rhx[cm]) and can be readily downloaded. For more information on the particular studies, please see the associated README files and contact information.

This catalog will be continually expanded. We invite authors of additional studies who wish to contribute waveforms to contact the Waveform Catalog Curator, John Baker.
