This combined safety checker will validate your target for overbright background, bright star violations and proximity to bright solar system objects (e.g. the Moon). This tool is intended for initial quick feasibility testing. If your target passes this test, it is expected to be safe for GALEX to observe (Exceptions include the Magellanic Clouds). If your target fails this quick test, and you still believe it should be observable, you will need to discuss the target feasibility in your proposal text and in the Comments of the Observation Form. You may find it helpful to examine sky plots around your target, check the target's visibility, or carry out more detailled safety checking. |
