HST Animation Sequences
This animation will show how gyros on a satellite maintain stability. Initially,
HST is gyrating in an exaggerated manner.......the Gyro spins up.......becomes
stable and the telecsope follows suit till full stability is achieved. This
will help to explain why Hubble's gyro system is integral to the accurate
pointing which yields the stunning imagery HST provides.
Here we will zoom in from the telescope.......to the RSU.......to the Gyro........to
the liquid filled cap.......to the gyro internal structure to see a break
in the wire that has been found to cause the gyro problems.
This animation shows how the latching system functions, and how thermal
blanketing will be applied to the telescope during the upcoming servicing
mission.
