EXCLUSION REGIONS in the MAGELLANIC CLOUDS

There are explicit exclusion regions around the Magellanic clouds: 3.75 degrees centered at 05 20 0.00, -68 30 0.0 around the LMC and 2.0 degrees centered at 1.00 00 .00, -73 12 0.0 around the SMC. Observations within these circles will not be accepted, even if they pass the brightness checker tool.

The skyplot tool indicates these zones of avoidance as a large double-crosshatched circle. Crosshatched 1.2 degree circles will also indicate regions where GALEX has already attempted observations which resulted in detector overcount shutdowns. Examples of the target observability output with these new features are shown here for an LMC example and for an SMC example.
