Fermi/LAT Detected Novae

This is my attempt to put together a definitive list of novae detected with Fermi/LAT.

Definitive Detections

These are the novae that have been detected with TS=25/5-sigma, according to at least one report, for any time periods.

  1. V407 Cyg

    • ~5 sigma [(1.0+/-0.4)x10-6 ph cm-2s-1 to (1.5+/-0.5)x10-6 ph cm-2s-1] on three consecutive days (2012-06-22 through 2012-06-24) (ATel 4224)
    • TS=193.7 [(2.64+/-0.45)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 22 days (Table 1 of Franckowiak et al. 2018)
    • TS=195.0 [(5.2+/-0.5)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 15 days (Table A1 of Franckowiak et al. 2018)
  4. V339 Del
  5. V1369 Cen
    • ~4 sigma [(2.1+/-0.6)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] averaged over 2013-12-07 through 2013-12-10 (ATel 5649)
    • TS=129.3 [(2.51+/-0.52)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 39 days (Table 1 of Franckowiak et al. 2018)
    • TS=94.2 [(2.1+/-0.3)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 15 days (Table A1 of Franckowiak et al. 2018)
  6. V5668 Sgr
    • 3.8 sigma [(1.4+/-0.6)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] averaged over 2015-03-23.0 through 2015-03-24.24 (ATel 7287)
    • TS=87.5 [(0.61+/-0.13)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 55 days (Table 1 of Franckowiak et al. 2018)
    • TS=61.7 [(0.85+/-0.14)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 15 days (Table A1 of Franckowiak et al. 2018)
  7. V5855 Sgr
    • TS=46 [(2.6+/-0.7)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] for data between 2016-10-28 and 2016-11-01 (ATel 9699)
    • TS=94 [(2.96+/-0.79)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] for data between 2016-10-27 and 2016-11-04 (Nelson et al. 2019)
  8. V5856 Sgr
    • TS=161 [(9.7+/-1.8)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] on 2016-11-08 (ATel 9736)
    • TS>10 daily (TS=5 on 2016-11-17) [(6.1+/-0.5)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] from 2016-11-08 to 2016-11-17 (ATel 9771)
    • TS=644 [(5.4+/-0.5)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] from 2016-11-08 to 2016-11-17 Li et al. 2017
  9. V549 Vel
    • TS=36 [(8.0+/-3.5)x10-8 ph cm-2s-1] averaged over 2017-10-24 through 2017-11-13 (ATel 10977)
  10. V357 Mus
    • TS=65 [2.4x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] averaged over 2018-01-11 through 2018-01-18 (ATel 11201)
  11. FM Cir
    • TS>30 in 20-day bins [Peak of about 1.5x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] in the bin around 2018-02-16 to 2018-03-08 (Wang et al. 2024)
  12. V906 Car
    • "Strong" - [2x10-6 ph cm-2s-1] averaged over 2018-04-14 through 2018-04-18, peaking at (3.6+/-0.3)x10-6 ph cm-2s-1 on 2018-04-14 (ATel 11546)
    • TS=3649 [(1.04+/-0.04)x10-6 ph cm-2s-1] over 2018-04-08 and 2018-04-30 (Aydi et al. 2020)
  13. V392 Per
    • TS=40 [(8.9+/-2.9)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] on 2018-04-30 (ATel 11590)
  14. V3890 Sgr
    • >5 sigma averaged over 2019-08-23 to 2019-09-13; >4 sigma [(1.2+/-0.4)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 2019-08-26 through 2019-08-29 (ATel 13114)
  15. V1707 Sco
    • TS=36 [(2.3+/-1.0)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] averaged over 2019-09-14 through 2019-09-18 (ATel 13116)
  16. YZ Ret
    • TS=467 [Daily detection at TS=22, 2.0+/-0.8x10-7 ph cm-2s-1, on 2020-07-10, non-detection on 2020-07-11, then daily flux of 5-7x10-7 ph cm-2s-1 (daily TS>78) during 2020-07-12 through 2020-07-15] (ATel 13868)
  17. V1405 Cas
    • 4.1 sigma [~(1.4+/-0.8)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] during 2021-05-02 15:01:17 to 2021-05-24 15:01:17 (ATel 14658)
    • TS=26.9 with a power-law index of 1.94 during 2021-05-22 10:20:00 to 2021-06-03 10:10:20 (Ou et al. 2025)
  18. V1674 Her
    • TS=31.6 [5.6-sigma, F(0.1-300GeV)= 9.6+/-2.7x10-7 ph cm-2s-1 with photon index=2.6+/-0.3] during 2021-06-12 00:00:00 to 2021-06-13 13:18:02 (ATel 14704)
  19. RS Oph
    • Initial detection at ~6 sigma, F(>0.1 GeV)= 2.4+/-0.8x10-6 ph cm-2s-1 with photon index=2.3+/-0.3 during 2021-08-08 18:00:00 to 24:00:00 (ATel 14834), up to 5.7+/-0.8x10-6 ph cm-2s-1 during 2021-08-09 18:00-2021-08-10 01:44 UT with photon index=1.9+/-0.1 (ATel 14845). First detection (2.1+/-0.7) during 2021-08-08 20:00-21:00, non-detection (<1.1) during 2021-08-08 16:30-18:00.
  20. V1716 Sco
    • Initial detection at >5 sigma, F(>0.1 GeV)= 6.5+/-1.2x10-7 ph cm-2s-1 with photon index=1.9+/-0.2 during 2023-04-21 00:00:00 to 24:00:00 (ATel 16002)
  21. V1723 Sco
    • Very significant (>5 sigma) detection [1.9+/-0.5x10-6 photons cm-2s-1] between 2024 Feb 11.0-12.0 UT (ATel 16441). Original detection at TS=21 [~(2.8+/-1.2)x10-6 ph cm-2s-1] between 2024 Feb 9.50 and 9.75 UT (ATel 16439).
  22. V462 Lup
    • Detected with ~5 sigma significance, F(>0.1 GeV)= 3.2+/-1.1x10-7 ph cm-2s-1 with photon index=2.6+/-0.3 during 2025-06-25,0 to 2025-06-26.0 (ATel 17249)
  23. V572 Vul
    • Detected with ~5.5 sigma significance, F(>0.1 GeV)= 2.2+/-0.9x10-7 ph cm-2s-1 with photon index=2.2+/-0.2 during 2025-06-25 07:45 to 2025-06-27 13:02 (ATel 17252)
  24. V7994 Sgr
    • Detected at >5-sigma significance F(>0.1 GeV)= 3.5+/-1.3x10-7 ph cm-2s-1 with photon index=1.9+/-0.2 during 2025-09-23 14:33 to 2025-09-25 04:15 (ATel 17419)
  25. V1935 Cen
    • Detected at >5-sigma significance F(>0.1 GeV)= 1.0+/-0.3x10-6 ph cm-2s-1 with photon index=2.1+/-0.2 during 2025-09-21.5 to 22.5 (ATel 17414)

    • 4.4 sigma [~(1.8+/-0.6)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] over 3.2 days beginning on 2016-09-26; over the subsequent 4.8 days, it was not significantly detected [<0.6x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] (ATel 9594)
  5. V6598 Sgr
    • ~4 sigma [~(1.9+/-1.2)x10-7 ph cm-2s-1] on 2023-07-15 and 2023-07-16 (ATel 16151)
