Notes on analyzing ROSAT data using XSELECTExtensive descriptions on how to use XSELECT on ROSAT data are available in the ROSAT data analysis using xselect and ftools guide.The new automated response generation is not documented in this guide. After extracting a spectrum the command save spec resp=yes will trigger response generation for the spectrum. For PSPC data XSELECT will attempt to copy the appropriate rmf from the local CALDB and will run pcarf to make the arf. For HRI data XSELECT will attempt to copy the HRI response from the local CALDB. The scripts that generate the rmf and arf are xsl_rosat_pspc_makeresp and xsl_rosat_hri_makeresp.
