Sources removed from cluster sample

Since we are primarily interested in clusters with enough photons to obtain a spectrum, we examined the GIS and SIS images to screen out clusters than were not detected in a visual inspection of the field or detected only faintly. This removed 120 clusters from the sample, most of these being clusters from the catalog of CfA 160 deg2 survey or the HST Medium Deep Survey that serendipitously in the GIS field of view.

Thirteen ASCA sequences were removed from the sample because the cluster was too far off axis, causing much of the emission to go outside the GIS field-of-view. Usually, these observations were intentionally offset from bright clusters, and the nine clusters observed in these 13 fields were included in the sample in other sequences.

We also excluded clusters which appeared as point sources in the SIS image and contained known AGN (e.g., 3C 215) since the AGN is likely to dominate the emission.

A few other clusters were excluded for other reasons as indicated below.

The table below (from Table 1 in the paper) has been broken up into segments of 25 since all the images would make for a huge download as one file.
