Changing your WiFi password
When one changes one's Active Directory (that is, NOMAD) password, one also has to manually update your password for wireless (and for your email client).
Previously, the operating system would simply prompt you for a new wireless password, and everything would be appropriately updated. Recently, however, that has not worked, and has required an additional manual step. Here's what to do:
- Open Keychain Access.app from the /Applications/Utiltiies folder.
(Alternatively, type keyc in the Spotlight search
window.)
- The main window of Keychain Access should open.
In the search box in the upper right, type 'nasa'. You should see
an entry of "kind" "802.1X Password". It should likely have an old
date (close to two months old, since your password is expiring!)
- Double click on that entry and a new window should appear that
looks like this:
- Click on "Show password" and type your Keychain password (likely
your current Mac login password, unless you deliberately changed it to
something else). It may have been changed to your current password,
without your asking it to do so.
Then click "Allow" or "Always allow".
The password that appears in the bottom box should be your previous NOMAD password. Please update it and click "Save Changes". You can then close this window. - Now go to the Wifi menu at the top of the screen. Turn Wifi off, wait a moment, and turn it back on. It should select "nasa" and connect properly.
- Crosscheck: If you open System Preferences:Network and click on Wifi in the left panel, you should see a 128.154.*.* IP address. This confirms that you have a correct IP address.
For more information about the Keychain, please see the ASD keychain_info page.
