Craig Markwardt writes: Sources discussed: NGC 6440 SGR 1806-20 XTE J1759-220 SAX J1747.0-2853 SAX J1750.X-2900 A few new things to report. * NGC 6440 is detected. This source is visible only in the north-south type of scan, where it is 0.96 degrees (!) from the endpoint. The collimator peters out at 1.0-1.1 degrees so this is right on the edge, with a collimator efficiency of only ~5%. Since MJD 51260 the source has increased from 2 mCrab to 140 mCrab on MJD 52182. The most recent 10 bulge scans have been rerun to show the flux history on the web page. * SGR 1806-20 has been claimed to have become active recently. Until now I did not have this source in the model. I have added it and re-run the most recent 10 bulge scans. There is a detection in the sense that a steady flux of 2 mCrab is fitted. However, the source is right on the galactic plane and there is risk of contamination. So currently I would argue that ~2 mCrab is an upper limit, until some variability is seen. No excursions above 3 mCrab have been detected in the past month on the bulge scan sample dates. * A "new source" found at the very edge of our scans, designated XTE J1759-220, with a best-fit position of RA=270.02, DEC=-22.05, and an error circle of a few arcminutes. I put new source in quotation marks because it has actually been active since February, but I only recently found it at the edge of the bulge scan field of view. The flux range has been 1-19 mCrab, and not a simple FRED, as seems to be common for the fainter sources. Our short observation with the PCA suggests noise properties reminiscent of a black hole. * SAX J1747.0-2853 has been active for the past few weeks, in an on-again, off-again fashion. The peak flux was about 50 mCrab, but in the last week it has decreased to about 8 mCrab. However, given the past behavior of a complex light curve structure, it is not impossible that there will be a secondary outburst. * SAX J1750-2900, which had a large outburst at the beginning of this year, now appears to be a more or less persistent source, at about the 100 mCrab level. What has been taken away in KS 1731-260 appears to be given back in 1750. Craig
