Craig Markwardt writes:

Here is a galactic bulge report for 08 July 1999 (day 2014).  This is
"regular" scan (primarily) north-south.

 * 2S1742-294 - well, whatever it was, it's dropped back down to about
   325 ct/s/5PCU.  As far as I can tell, this was real source
   variability.  At 650 ct/s it would be hard to make a mistake.

 * SLX 1744-299/300, had dropped last week from a high of about 430
   ct/s to 100 ct/s.  Since then it has recovered to about 210 ct/s.

 * The new source I mentioned from the last time, (RA=265.064,
   DEC=-25.2858, equ. 2000) was suggested to be a previously published
   burster in Terzan 5.  However, the Terzan source is more than 2
   degrees away from the new source -- too far.  

   The new source still appears to be there, but apparently fainter.
   The absolute intensity is difficult to constrain as yet, but it
   seems that at very least it hasn't brightened significantly.
