SM4 MISSION - FLIGHT DAY 4 - 05.14.2009

EVA #1 with John Grunsfeld and Drew Feustal.
Tasks - Replaced the Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) with Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), after some difficulty removing the A-latch bolt; swapped out the Science Instrument Command and Data Handling (SIC&DH) Unit; installed a soft capture mechanism (SCM); lubricated three of the shroud doors; and install one of the three latch-over center kits (LOCK). They had some difficulty with the other two, installing a latch repair on one of the bolts, and partially installed a second LOCK. The purpose of the LOCKs was to allow faster access to the instruments during flight day 6's spacewalk (EVA #3).
EVA start: 12:52, EVA finish: 20:12, Duration: 7 hours 20 minutes

What appears to be multiple astronauts, because of the shiny mirror-like surface of the HST, is actually only two - John Grunsfeld (left) and Andrew Feustel.
