 To the Launch Pad
On Jan 28th atop a mobile crawler, the space shuttle Columbia was slowly rolled out of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) to the launch pad site. There the shuttle will await its Hubble payload and the final countdown.
 Shuttle Columbia's Preparation
Here are a few shots of the space shuttle Columbia's preparation for launch. On Jan 16, 2002, it was rolled out of the Orbital Processing Facility (OPF) and into the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) where it was merged with its rocket boosters and external tank. Rocket booster photos are actually from a previous Atlantis Mission.
