Putting the Pieces Together

The NICMOS Simulator is in the right foreground of the photo. The NCC is located to the left hooked-up to run its test through the simulator.

   Summary
After only 14 months, all the components of the NCS were built and shipped to Goddard. The fast turnaround was a testament of what a group of resourceful, committed people can accomplish. Because of Hubble's high-profile record of success and accomplishments it has always inspired extreme dedication from those who work on the project.

The components were assembled and ready to be tested on the ground. Time was limited - in less than 4 months, NCS would have to make a journey into space for testing. NASA requires space qualification for any unproven novel technologies like those developed for NCS.
