A finding chart for TV Col

SkyView image of TV Col (see important notes); the IP is the SE component of the close pair.

Position:
  • Equatorial: 05h29m25.54s, -32d49m03.5s (Gaia)
  • Galactic: l=236.79, b=-30.60
Finding Chart:
Charles et al. (1979)
Brightness:
Optical: G=14.0 (Gaia); X-rays: 5.9x10-11 ergs cm-2s-1 (BAT 157m; 14-195 keV), 6.0x10-11 ergs cm-2s-1 (2SXPS)
IP Credential:
***** (Ironclad) The spin period has been repeatedly detected in multiple X-ray observations, although it remains elusive in optical photometry. The orbital period is from optical photometry and from the grazing eclipse.
Periods:
  • Orbital: 0.2285999 d = 5.486398 hr = 19751.03 s, from partial eclipes in the optical
    HJD(eclipse) = 2448267.4893(5) + 0.2285999(2)E
    (Hellier (1993))
  • Spin: 0.0221 d = 31.83 min = 1909.7(2.5) s, seen in X-rays.
  • Others: 5.2 hr photometric period and 4-day beat between orbit and 5.2hr.
Inclination:
~70 (has grazing eclipse).
Distance:
502.8 (499.3-506.9) pc (Gaia EDR3; parallax: 1.951+/-0.014 mas)
