Commentary

Craig Markwardt writes:
This is a report of the galactic bulge scans, taken July 5 (day 2011),
using the "cross" pattern (primarily east-west).  This is the first
full scan we have been able to complete since about three weeks ago.
Viewing constraints now appear excellent and are not a problem.  On
the other hand, the constraints of an upcoming proposal -- which
demands "uninterrupted" viewing -- will interfere with the bulge
scans.  The scan observations will be broken into five short segments.

 * 2S 1742-294 seems to have activated.  Its quiescent level was about
   150 ct/s/5PCU; the post recent observation puts it at about 650
   ct/s.

 * Update: 4U 1728-34 is near the low end of its range, at about 800
   ct/s.  4U 1820-30 is in the middle of the range, at about 2500
   ct/s. KS 1731-260 is dropped to the low end of its range, near 500
   ct/s.

 * XTE J1819-254 is at about 150 cts/s.

 * GRS 1747-312 (Terzan 6) is fully recovered to its quiescent level
   of about 10 ct/s.

 * It is difficult to say whether SLX 1735-269, which had been varying
   alot, has reached a quiescent level of 60 ct/s, or if it's still
   strongly varying.

Ah, one more thing.  There is a new source, about 10 mCrab (2-10 keV)
near 

RA=265.064  DEC=-25.2858

It shows up very nicely next to KS 1731-260.  I haven't been able to
locate this one in a catalog yet.
